"TGR traveled to Norway on a surf exploration journey with Benji Weatherley and Ian Walsh. Our mission was to find the big surf rumored to hit Norway's Lofoten islands each autumn. After five days of planes, trains, ferries, and lost surfboards we made it to our little fishing cabin in Svolvaer. As the Northern lights lit up the sky we wondered if our efforts would prove fruitful. Would we get swell? We found the break at Unstad and the conditions were horrible with forty mile per hour onshore wind and rain. The moral was low and we waited it out. At the bar we met an old Whaleman who told us the wind and waves were going to turn for the better. Low and behold he was right, and on his call the conditions turned epic. We scored 6-8 foot perfect right hand barrels. The water was cold but the surf was worth it. Epic Norweigan Barrels with a lifetime of beauty and culture made this trip that much more unique."
